Memories

Kirk Robertson

The COM department really is a well oiled machine. I have so much respect for the administration and how they run such a organized and beneficial department. I have developed friendships with professors that will undoubtedly last well into my adult years. COM studies has helped further my knowledge and passion for ministry as well. I am a Worship Pastor currently at a church and many skills I use every week, I learned from my professors. COM students are incredibly bright, and the things they learn throughout the major make them very well equipped to go into the adult world and perform with excellence.

What area/classes did you focus on while you were in COM?

While I was a COM major I focused mainly on the performance side of COM. I took multiple classes with Trimble and Scott who were always very helpful regarding performance and communion.

What do you miss most about being a COM student?

Honestly, the professors. They are an incredible group of individuals who actually care about the students they teach. They take time and effort to influence students, and that is something I will not forget.

What is one piece of advice you would give yourself if you could go back?

If I could go back to the COM department and do it all over again, I would put more effort into community. The students in the COM department are a wealth of ideas and are all very kind and encouraging people. I wish I would have spent more time exchanging ideas with fellow students and collaborating with them.
